Growth or Safety – Which one do you choose ?
There will be many opportunities in your business to grow.
But how often do we take the leap and risk and go for?
With any new opportunity, there is risk. .
….but with comfort there is no growth, or very little.
How often do you allow yourself to take that risk, to take that opportunity, embrace the discomfort ?
Sometimes we have to face difficult decisions in our entrepreneurial journey. Whether that be changing direction with your network marketing business, changing the way that you are building your business, changing the business that you’re in , moving away from the location that you have built your team…. there are endless amount of them.
The way that you choose to react to these things will dictate if you are ready to grow or stay safe in your business.
I want to go through a step-by-step process on how to choose an educated decision when you are faced with a choice in your business.
STEP ONE- Get a clear idea of where you are
Assess exactly where you are in your business.
What is going right in your business?
What is not working in your business?
This step can be tricky because you have to be very honest with yourself with your results versus where they want to be.
Entrepreneurs tend to be hard on themselves – they don’t give credit to themselves with what they have accomplished in their business.
OR entrepreneurs overestimate what success they have had in their business but ‘don’t understand why they have hit a plateau’
Do either of these sound like you ?
Let me tell you a story about when I started running.
When I started running in January 2019, I was running three days a week consistently. I was making some progress but not making the progress I was expecting.
I had to sit back and evaluate what was working in my training schedule and what wasn’t working. I realized that as much as I wanted to tell myself I was running three days a week, every other week I would only run two days. This was because I didn’t have a consistent scheduled time put aside to run.
When I was honest with myself and looked at the “data” or facts, I realized where I was falling short.
This is very similar to your business.
When you want to grow in your business, you have to un-emotionally evaluate what is not working in your business.
And what do I mean by un-emotionally?
I mean that you have to look at your work and assess your metrics, sales, analytics, profit margin, etc.
This can be a tough thing because we put so much work into something and don’t want to be told that what we are doing isn’t working, but the only way to grow is to be OK with constructive criticism..
Whether it be you realizing that you need to change something or a mentor or leader telling you that there is a better way.
STEP 2: Get a clear idea of where you want to be.
Knowing where you want your business to grow is important because you don’t get into a car not knowing where you’re going to end up.
You are either driving to a known location or going for a night drive it and ending up back at your home or starting location.
So why would it make sense if we jumped into a business and didn’t have any idea of where we wanted that business to bring us?
Getting a clear idea of where you are now will allow you to get from where you are now to achieve the goals that you had in your mind.
Now- some people might say that your goal and where you want to be are the same thing, but hear me out. If your goal is to pay for your child’s private school and it is $20,000 a year and you need $40,000 to live on in addition to your spouses income, you need to make $60,000 a year in your business. So you need to break down that number from month to week to day to get a clear structured- plan on how to achieve that with numbers
Often times I see entrepreneurs and network marketers treading water doing things that they think are effective in their business but are just wasting time.
Step 3 : Research and plan your new venture
Specifically in network marketing I see that people want to change their company and they see a company that is a great culture and they decide to jump to it without seeing any of the companies ratings online any reviews any compensation plan they just love the community and they just jump right to it however this is your business so you want to make sure you were making a smart decision.
Put that plan into action and kick ass !
Most people get the education – learn the skills and never put it into action.
That’s not your song to sing!!
If you WANT to grow, you will never grow without implementing these skills that you learn into your business.
